Mohammad Adam Hater, 26, a refugee from Darfur, works in Kibbutz Urim in Israel on Wednesday November 14, 2007.....Mohammad was born in Darfur and left the country after his village was burned down and most of the people were killed...He ran away to Khartoum and from there to Egypt. In Egypt he didn't receive refugee papers from the UN. He say it was hard to be in Egypt with no papers so he continued his journey to Israel, crossing the Sinai desert and illegally passing through the border to Israel. The Israeli army captured him and put him in a detention camp for four months. A year and three months ago, Kibbutz Urim volunteered to adopt him and give him work and a place to stay. Today one of the families in the Kibbutz is taking care of him and he work in irrigation for 10 -12 hours a day with an Israeli kibbutz member named Itamar.....Mohammad says he is happy in Israel. "I have food, a place to sleep and no one is stopping me from traveling in Israel." He still hasn't received refugee status from the UN, and because of that he does not feel free. He hasn't had news from his family for three years and he doesn't know if there are alive or dead...
