Born in to a Jewish Family in Los Angeles, CA., Shifren was not a religious person when he began surfing at the age of 12. At the age of 33, Shifren began to follow the Jewish tradition and practice Kabala, and since then has been know as ?The Surfing Rabbi.? Today, Shifren lives in Venice Beach, CA., and teaches surfing and kabala to students around the world.
